well my plan for this year was to go running this hasn't quite worked out yet. On the other hand though my work have organised walk up Snowdonia to raise money for Marie Curie which will take 8hrs to do. I thought this would be grate goal to aim for!!

Need to start training for it now i will be walking up Snowdonia in April.

Just realised i haven't blogged for very long time but then last year was very busy period for me. I had changed jobs, became Auntie and lost three stone amongst other things as well.

I'm looking forward to this year for start we have the Olympics to look forward too and Queens Diamond Jubilee plus extra bank holidays. I have set myself few New Years Resolutions the first one loose another stone and keep the weight off (she says eating last bit of xmas pudding!!) go running never done this before but think i can do this now i have lost some weight. I do have one other resolution as well but will let you know if that comes true when it happens.

Bead Fair - Nantwich Cheshire Part 2

The Bead Fair in Nantwich on Sunday was grate fun although standing in rain to get in wasn't much fun but on plus side wasn't waiting too long. The fair this year had got even bigger with upstairs as well this year i found this out when queueing to get in the lady behind was telling her friend so that was nice surprise. i got lots of fab beads and didn't have to spend silly amount of money. when i go to these events it suddenly dawns on me how many other people like bead as i do and how popular jewellery making has become every year.

I'm off to The Big Bead show in Telford next month (although don't need any beads now lol) still wont stop me spending. I have been waiting for over seven years now to be able to attend this event this is the first year they have arranged event up north, i really hope it will be good day. Is anyone else going?

Bead Fair - Nantwich Cheshire

I'm off to Bead Fair this morning that is held in Nantwich at Civic Hall if anyone is local to this area and loves beads well worth nosy. Although there is £1 entry like most places these days. Right i need to get ready will add photo later of my goodies.

Holiday in Edinburgh

For Easter this year i decided to go on holiday with my mum to Edinburgh. I have been to Edinburgh once before when i was at Uni and ever since then have wanted to return. It's also where my jewellery fetish first started and of course there where couple of bead shops i wanted to visit.

The first bead shop i went to was The Bead Bead Shop: http://www.thelittlebeadshop.co.uk/ I have wanted to visit this shop for very long unfortunately i didn't have enough time to go on course that they do there but never the less i got to buy beads. There is also just down the road on the left a fantastic little Chocolate shop/ cafe i had the most amazing cup of hot chocolate perfect as the weather was bitterly cold that day. i also bought some chocolate to take home with me http://www.the-chocolate-tree.co.uk/cafe/ you won't be disappointed if you go here although its bit far from main shops we went by car and took the Sat nav there is parking on side of the road.

The other bead shop which is must is http://www.beadshopscotland.co.uk/ rather big shop with plenty of choice and space to walk around they also have courses but unfortunately none where running the week i was visiting still gives me excuse to go back. parking is little tricky around there it's more residential. again not in centre of Edinburgh we went by car and Sat Nav.

I would say if your bead mad like me this is must if your visiting Edinburgh but you might want to work out where you are in relevant to where these places are as there could be some walking needed or go by car if you have one allot easier.

My Funny Cat - Iko

When i was out shopping the other day i used box to carry the shopping into the house. After i had finished putting all the shopping away i left the box on top of the work top ready to put in the bin outside, i then went to do something else and when going back into the kitchen my cat Iko was sitting inside the box looking very happy. she made me laugh i spend so much money on toys and cat baskets for her and likes the box more. I had realised few days ago that i hadn't blogged for while so thought i would give you all update, I'm sure like every other crafter we are all getting ready for Christmas time i have some craft events booked and looking forward to going but i have so much work still to do and the list keeps growing.

I have been asked to attend craft fair where I'm only allowed to sell Christmas decorations and baby clothes which i don't mind but coming up with new ideas for Christmas decorations is hard but i do have few things in mind just need the time to have go at making them now!!!

New Family Members

I'm now the owner of two tabby cats one is two years old called Ico and the other is 5 month Kitten called Edward (mother and son) i only got them last night so there still settling in Edward doesn't seem to be too fazed and is exploring the house but Ico has found shelf in one of our cupboards and has been there all day getting little worried about her she is friendly enough just won't come out have tried persuading her with treats, food and toys but think some of the problem could be we have dog, now she is very good dog and all she wants to do is play and the cats have come from home that had dog as well but she won't budge, Edward is not too bad if our dog comes too close he will hiss and he has hit her on the noise and i must say Dot (dog) handle that really well and just backed off didn't bark or gruel at him, just hope it gets better or may have to consider other options

Today i went a long to Car Boot and for change there was some nice things there was lady selling jewellery at 20p each and well couldn't resist this think i got some bargains as well: Got two lots of pearl Necklaces one set look rather old but in very good condition and they both have very nice clasps on them so will have to come up with design to use them now, if your looking for beads then go to local car boot you can pick up some bargains!!!

I thought i would add this post after reading 'Confessions of Crafty Mummy' blog, about two weeks ago i told my self i need to loose weight because in July i will be going to visit a friend in Poland and want to look good. So far its going well when i weighed myself Saturday i had lost 7lbs but what is even better is i weighed myself again this morning and have lost another 2lbs so in total that's 9lbs its such amazing feeling. i have never really tried dieting before as i have very bad weakness for chocolate and eat far too much of it but just eating healthy and excising i haven't found this hard and there for have not been craving chocolate every 2 minutes but when i do feel as if i need something sweet i find low fat dessert or low fat biscuit is enough i just hope i can keep this up. my target is to loose 3 stone now i don't think i will do this by July but if i can loose over 2 stone i will be very happy so here it go's and if your dieting at the moment keep going and don't give in just think about that goal you want to achieve you can do it.

Out In The Garden

Today i have been out in the Garden, a few weeks ago we bought a little Green House (Plastic) as last year our Tomato crop where very bad, so this year we have taken no chances and today it finally got built in the garden and we have also been planting seeds we have, Tomatoes, Peppers, Spring Onions, Pak Choi, Potatoes, Sunflowers and more to come soon just hope we get better crop this year it was so disappointing last year. will add some pictures soon once they all start to do something.

Colour Swap

I received my colour swap yesterday from Dolly Dollop and i love it, my favourite colour is purple so there for the items i received where purple:

I got Handmade pillow, cafe tiere cover and bunny plus ribbons, bead heart, candle, lip balm and some yummy chocolate

I love this pillow so much and it has now taken pride of place on my bed with the bunny beside it, Thank you Claire for all the lovely items you have sent me and for arranging the swap.

Valentine Swap

When i came home from work today i was greeted by a package from my swapper for the Valentines Swap i was very excited and couldn't wait till Valentines to find out what it was, inside was Fury Purple Monster that goes by the name of 'Huggles' made by Giraffe Crafts: www.folksy.com/shops/giaffecraft i love him and after a long stressful week at work it was nice to have something waiting for me when i got home. I'm hoping to get my own package in the post next week for my swapper, i have really enjoyed this swap it has been interesting trying to come up with something to make which is in heart shape form it is also nice to receive something for Valentines this year. Big Thank you to organiser of the swap and Giraffe Craft for making my week more bearable.

PMC Class

On Saturday i attended PMC Class which i have been very excited about and have finally been able to do, for people how don't know what PMC is it stands for Precious Metal Clay, basically it looks and feels like clay and you can shape and mould it to what ever you want but then this amazing thing happens to it when you fire it turns to Silver and this is proper Silver that can be Hallmarked as 925 Silver. Anyway getting back to my class it was very interesting day we started of with demonstration on how best to handle the clay when using it and the tutor gave some interesting tips, then there was the fun part where we have a go i made pair of small earring and pendant. After lunch we where then shown how to make a ring the reason for this techniques is that when clay is fired it shrinks slightly so there is bit of technique to the way it is done so that size of the ring is correct.

I had a grate day learing about this material up to now i haven't been brave enough to go it alone maily because of the cost and getting the firing right, i have learnt a lot from it and hoping to incorparate some of this PMC into my Jewellery designs. There is no picture of my ring at the moment as its being polished for super bling.

I'm having a sale in my shop at the moment and have lowered the sale prices again i have also changed some of the prices of items which are not in the sale as well, now i don't have any craft fairs left this year i have reduced the price of my Xmas decorations and bookmarks if your still looking for gift for someone or maybe little something for yourself then why not take a look.

Ladies Evening

OK so the Ladies Evening wasn't such a success this time it was very quite i think some of this was down to it being in the week and at night when no body wants to come out, its shame as i have done couple there now and they have been grate success oh well I'm now done for Christmas now it has been good i have met a lot of people crafters and organisers and hopefully some of this will lead to more craft events next year, in the mean time i have given myself 'to do list' 1. Find and Book PMC course (this one has been done already) 2. make some more stunning items (i have some in mind) 3. Get some price labels made for my jewellery and business cards 4. look for some better quality gift boxes 5. Finish my project off (this as been on going for six months) 6. reorganise my bead cupboard (i have new boxes) 7. make some little items with the fabric i bought 8. list new items in both my shops 9. look up events for next year 10. sort out some insurance for crafts

Craft Fair

I was at a Craft Fair this weekend at Whitchurch Civic Hall, not a bad day did make a rather good profit which I'm very happy with specially after i was not going to go as i found out there was another seven jewellery stalls, but when i got a moment to breath i did go and have a look around and the jewellery that most people where selling was imported items which where defiantly not handmade, a part from me there was another three stalls selling handmade so i did feel a bit better knowing my jewellery was selling and these not handmade jewellery stalls where not. it is a good feeling people do know what quality looks like. i have one event left now and this is Ladies Evening which will be at Willaston Hall at 6:00pm this Thursday I'm hoping this will be grate event it has been in the past and then i can rest till the new year. I have just booked a PMC class which i will be doing in the new year I'm so excited i have been wanting to do this for while now so really looking forward to it, cant wait now.

Today was such a good day for me i was at Craft Fair at King's School Maccessfeild and it went really well i sold a lot of my jewellery and Christmas Decorations plus baby cardigan and booties from my other shop (www.nansknitts.folksy.com) and to top it off i won bottle of Champagne (real stuff) from the raffle i was so pleased just hope next week will be just as good (fingers crossed) now need to get back to making, with big smile on my face :)

Christmas Fair

I did christmas fair at Cheadle Green on Saturday it was a grate day and lots of items sold so im very happy, i wasn't sure this was going to happen as there was another four people selling jewellery so i see this as a plus. The down side i now need to make more items before next weekend as i have another craft fair in Maccesfeild at The Kings School at 1:00pm lets hope this goe's just as well.

Liability Insurance

I have a lot of problems when it comes to this i know where i can get the insurance but what annoys me is if you are doing your craft just as a hobby and then making little money just to cover some of the cost back then why must you have this on top of paying for your table at carft stall and most of these are £30+ so little tip there was a craft event i really wanted to take part in as the table was £12 and i know i can make my money back on this plus extra but at the bottom of the application form it said 'must have liability insurance' so i decided to contact the organiser and see if there was any way of getting round this she also arranged that liability insurance is very expensive and you will need to do quite a lot of events to get the money back and because i don't have any stands and not selling chain saws on my stall i could come a long without liability insurance fantastic, down side if someone does fall over my table i am liable but I'm willing to take this risk i have done quite a few craft events now and have never had any problems like this so i am more than willing to take the risk just thought i would tell you all so don't be put off if they ask for liability insurance some people are willing to meet you half way. Also someone a while a go told me about this site its defiantly worth taking a look I'm thinking of going with them next year i have done quite a lot of events this year and have made some really good contacts so thinks it about time i got some insurance now it also means i can do events with the council as they insist that you have insurance www.nmtf.co.uk

Christmas Fair Part 2

The fair at the weekend didn't go too badly it was busy and people where buying although they seem to be buying little small things rather than my sets of jewellery i have, so now I'm coming up with some small little Christmas stocking fillers that are the £3.00 mark unfortunately i only sold one of my snow flakes but think this might of been down to price so i have now changed the price of them www.folksy.com/gladwyn my next fair is the second week in November so need to start making and get myself prepared for it. Christmas Fair

I have just opened a new shop, but i cant take all the credit for it as the work has been done by my Nan. She has problems with her joints in her fingers and she finds knitting helps relieve some of the pain the down side is she keeps knitting baby clothes but we don't have any baby's in our family at the moment, so i said i would have a go at selling them at one of my craft fairs but also thought i would add some onto folksy and see what happens, i thought as well it would be nice to support a charity as I'm not looking to make a profit out of this just give my Nan some money back for her materials so that she can make more, £1.00 from every sale will be donated to NSPCC, please have a look at our shop and please feel free to leave some comments http://www.nansknitts.folksy.com/

First Year is Paper

While ago i put a post on Folksy asking if anybody did any presents for the first wedding Anniversary which is paper, well i did get a response from Gina at: www.folksy.com/shop/handcrafted.com its called 'first Year Is Paper Anniversary Gift' and it consists of a origami picture of the bride and groom which has been made by your requirements and then mounted in picture frame, i gave Gina a picture of the happy couple and i must say the finished peace looks just like they did on the day, so here it is my personal gift for my Auntie and Uncle:

New Pearl Necklace

This Necklace has taken me almost two months to make and i have finally finished it today, I'm so pleased with it i love pearls and the colour purple and so when i saw this pattern i thought i must have a go and put my own twist on it, the materials used are white and black Fresh Water Pearls with purple and Amethyst sead beads to complement it:

I don't really like taking photos of my self wearing my jewellery but for this piece i think its the best way to show it off, please let me know what you think it will soon be on sale in my folksy shop.

Making Jam Part 2

I have made my Rhubarb and Ginger Jam and I'm very please with it, the colour looks grate and it has set but sadly i only got three jars out of it but then while taking the dog out for a walk i came across a Damson tree so then i thought i can make Damson jam as well, so i have.

After making the Damson Jam my neighbour had been give a big bucket of plums and green gages i then had to think what i could do with by this time i decided i had way too much jam and should make something else so instead of jam have mad plum and apple chutney, the apples came from my other neighbour how has apple tree, now i have plenty of jam and chutney guess what everyone is getting for Christmas.

I haven't finished yet i want to make Elderberry Cordial just need to collect some more bottles and the green gages where used in a pie and i must say was very nice haven't had green gages.

Making Jam Part 1

During the start of the year i bought a Rhubarb plant and don't know why because i don't really like the taste of it but anyway now it's got lots of stalks on it and is ready to pick, i have been thinking what could i make with it, i did make a Rhubarb and Ginger Crumble which was very nice but i would have to make hell of a lot of it to use it all up so after searching on the Internet i have decided to make Rhubarb and Ginger Jam, its the first time i have attempted this and hoping it will go well. Will keep you all up to date on how it go's and will post some pictures, I'm off to the shop later to get my sugar.

Destash Swap

Some of you might remember their was a destash wash arranged on Folksy not so long a go by me, i thought i would share with you what i got from my swapper Rebecca Jackson i love what got and just need to find the time to do something with it, i have plenty of ideas just need to find the time. Thank you to everyone how had a go at finding a new name for me there where some really good ones i really like Be- Jewelled but when i did a search quite a lot of names came up with it so i have decided to go with 'Jewel Drops' that way i don't have to make too many changes to my shop and other things, i will be contacting the winner (Glamglass) soon.

I need some help from you crafty people I'm having a bit of a revamp for my jewellery at the moment and want to change the name i am giving myself but most of the names i have come up with are not very catchy (like JD By Laura), this is where you clever people come in all you have to do is come up with a clever or quirky name i could give my Jewellery

I'm Back

Hi everyone, this past few weeks has been a bit of nightmare my computer had died and its taken three weeks for the computer man to let me know that there was no way it could be fixed something to do with the mother board, but now i have a new computer so hopefully now i can get back to normal it was my birthday a few weeks ago and asked everyone for money i have seen a course on Precious Metal Clay which i have wanted to do and now can finally get round to doing it just need to book it now, my jewellery selling is going rather well at the moment i did a Ladies evening a few weeks ago which went well i sold more jewellery in four hours then i did at some of the craft fairs i had been to the laddie how organised it has invited me back to do one at Christmas i was also asked if i would do a house party for someone this should be in the next few weeks, and i am at a summer fair this weekend so fingers crossed for that although this is going well i still haven't sold anything on my shop just wondering if its worth having it? I'm off to the international cheese show in Nantwich tomorrow I'm one of the stewards there and have to help the judges just hope its a good day and we get nice weather every year i go it rains.

Craft Fair Tomorrow

I'm going to be at a craft fair and art exhibition at Lark Lane Liverpool on 21st June, just hope i will do better at this one than the one i did a couple of weeks a go the plus side is everyone selling has got to have made it hoping this will be a plus side. Hoping as well we get good weather, every time i do a craft fair it rains all day. Will post some pictures tomorrow of my stall and keep your fingers crossed for me.

I have just added some new Earrings and Necklaces to my Folksy Shop. why not take a look? You might remember i asked you all if the price was right for the blue ceramic Necklace that i blogged about a few weeks ago, well i have finally put this Necklace in my shop and priced it at £15.00 so we will see what happens. I have also decided to make some more of these Necklaces but this time use Sterling Silver instead. Thanks to everyone how commented.

Bead Fair Last Sunday

Last Sunday was the bead fair at the Nantwich Civic Centre and of course i bought beads (lots of beads) here is what i bought, need to find some time to make things now.

Storage Solution

Like most people i have found it hard to find proper storage space as you can see this is how i use to store all my beading items, not very organised and very hard to find things i did have look round shops for something that would be good enough to store all my bits and pieces but gave up in the end. i decided to speak to my brother as he is a joiner i asked him if he could create something that i could store all my things in and he did (see picture below) i was very impressed and now i have my new 'beading cupboard' its fantastic i know where everything is and can find everything straight away.

This is what my brother made for me, he is very clever. its also a lot fuller then this now.

Suprise Swap

Morocco Holiday

Hi everyone i came back from Morocco about three weeks ago and have finally got round to putting some of my photos on the computer and i thought i should share some of them with you, i went to Agadir in Morocco and had a lovely time they have lots of tourist in there but not many of them are English. the picture on the left is me in Marrakesh we decided that we would have to visit this city while we where there and what experience it was the only way to describe it was dirty, smelly, manic, terrifying and interesting i have never seen a city like it there where snake charmers, belly dancers, story tellers and of course the famous souks and these souks where the terrifying bit they are small little ally ways of shops all crammed in together with lots of people around and motor bikes driving through these ally ways and if you don't get out the way they wont stop. anyway i hope i haven't put anyone off its an experience and I'm glad i did it we went with a tour guide how was female and from Maraketch they find this very strang in Maraketch as women should not be working like this but if you do go there its an essential having tour guide. Even with the scary parts its a lovely city in its own way but going for a day was enough for me.

The picture below is me and my mum she wont be happy when she knows she is featured on my blog (he he) here we are in the city of Essaouria we visited this city after Marrakesh and its a beautiful city and very calm it was invaded by the Portuguese and there for has that sort of Portugal feel to it,

every one is very pleasant and you don't get hassled as much here. If i was to go back to Morocco i would come and stay in this city.

Finally my favorite picture is the Goats in the trees, yes that is what i said they climb the Argan tress to eat the fruit that is growing on them, as you drive through the Atlas Mountains you see lots of these goats and i think its quite funny to see so i thought i would share it with you.

Big Bead Fair

Hi if you are like me and love beads and buying them then you might be interested in knowing there is Bead Fair on Sunday 24th May, 10:00am till 4:00pm at Nantwich Civic Centre

i have been quite a few times now as this is very close to where i live, but this year is meant to be the biggest one so far with jewellery suppliers from all over the region if you want to look at what suppliers will be attending then go to: http://www.jlfairs.co.uk/ its well worth going you wont be disappointed but be warned have a figure of how much you want to spend or you will end up spending hundreds and get there early this way you can have a good look round at what everyone is selling and compare prices before it gets too busy.

What Price Would you Pay?

This Necklace is one i have made and really like although im having trouble pricing it i was thinking about £15.00, how much would you pay?

The materials used are ceramic beads, silver plated beads and silver plated chain and clasp as soon as i have rough idear i will be selling it in my shop.
